Getting pregnant is not always a walk in the park. Sometimes, you could be trying to have a baby by conceiving, but it’s not fruitful. The alarming fact is that the older you get, the less fertile you become. As such, you should visit a reproductive doctor who will help you out accordingly after a series of tests. At a certain age, it is crucial to be aware of some medical conditions that should raise an alarm after trying to conceive for a long time. In case of any of the following situations, it is most likely time to make an appointment with a reproductive doctor.

You’ve Been Trying to Conceive for a While

If you are under 35 years old, it is recommended that you visit a reproductive doctor if you don’t get pregnant after trying for about a year. However, if you’ve attained 35 years of age, you should visit the doctor if you’ve been trying for around 6 months with no success. During the scheduled appointment, we may recommend some X-rays to examine your eggs, tubes, and uterus. We will assess these parts to determine how healthy they are and whether they can properly carry out their role in aiding responsibility. Your partner will also be tested. Sometimes, all you need is a little patience and a few visits to a fertility doctor.

You Have Irregular or Painful Periods

Ovulatory disorders are the number one cause of infertility. Nonetheless, most of the conditions are treatable with the right medication. If you have painful menstruation or they become irregular, it may be time for you to visit the fertility doctor. Ovulatory disorders are occasionally caused by an imbalance in the hypothalamus found in the pituitary gland or an irregular thyroid. When it comes to ovaries in particular, the follicles found on them could cause infertility.

You Have Discharge and Aches

If your stomach is aching, you have a fever, and you see some discharge, you should make an appointment with a reproductive doctor. The discharge coming out of your vagina can either be yellow, green, or gray. It could also smell bad, so the reproduction doctor will provide the needed medical help. Most of the times, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is the diagnosis given. Immediate treatment is required to prevent it from causing long-term fertility problems.
