She values the importance of exploring an individual’s past, unconscious conflicts, and understanding what defenses have developed. She believes that helping a patient gain insight to relational patterns is beneficial for change to occur. In addition, she recognizes the value of behavioral techniques. She realizes that focusing on beliefs, attitudes and thoughts can be extremely beneficial in creating behavioral changes. More specifically, while working in an addiction setting, she has recognized the value of using a CBT framework in the initial stages of treatment to help maintain sobriety, and build internal resources with a patient. With the majority of her patients she incorporates mindfulness/meditation in her practice, as well. She believes in the research and results of utilizing mindfulness as a coping skill to reduce anxiety, depression, stress, as well as using it as a pathway to reach life goals. Furthermore, she acknowledges that each patient is unique so working from multiple models allows her to adjust treatment to the specific needs of the patient.

Orit Tabachnik

Touch Base - A Collaboration of Heart & Mind.

In the frenzy of modern life, we often overlook the root cause of our feelings just to take care of business and get things done. We end up living in a constant state of perpetual forward motion, never taking the time to sort through our thoughts and feelings, which can leave us frustrated and burned out without really understanding why. Touch Base is a hands-on approach to literally lay the cards all out on the table and get to the heart of the matter. Touch base is a process of giving time, space and a voice to what you feel and digging into why you feel it as well as what you would might like to do about it.

In facilitating Touch Base, Orit’s empathy and compassion make her a competent guide to assist though the process. Orit’s patience is infectious as she gently supports you into digging deeper all through a modality that helps to break down thoughts and feelings in a tangible and yes, even fun way. Touch Base lead by Orit will help remove the barriers to the root cause of your motivations, all with the kindness so missing in our daily lives. —Jennifer Polidori, Yoga teacher
